ABOUT BRUNSWICK
Proximity to the city – at its closest, the CBD is only three kilometres away, making it an easy walk to work, shops, theatres, pubs, hospitals, The University of Melbourne and RMIT.
Transport – you are spoilt for choice with two tram lines, the Upfield train line, and the Merri Creek Bike Path. There’s also easy access to City Link and Essendon and Melbourne airports.
Cosmopolitan shopping – Lygon Street, Sydney Road and Nicholson Street provide a multi-cultural variety of food, entertainment, organic produce, factory outlets and other shopping options. Barkly Square Shopping Centre has been recently redeveloped.
Parklands – in addition to the bike/walking trails, CERES Community Environment park is a big drawcard , with a community garden and a great organic cafe and nursery. Nearby Princes Park has football, bowling, tennis and cricket facilities and, you can watch Carlton AFL players train.
It’s close enough to the city center that you can hop on the Upfield train and get there in 15 minutes, catch a tram and make it in under 30 minutes, or walk through Royal Park and Parkville and get there in 1-1.5 hours (depending on your frolicking pace).
While Brunswick is close enough to the city that commuting is a non-issue, it’s also far enough away that you can completely separate yourself from the city if you want. With all the residential streets, parks, and thrift stores, it’s easy to forget you’re even in a major city until you glimpse the skyline from Sydney Road.
